Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech)

Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering involves planning, designing, and constructing infrastructure like buildings, roads, bridges, and dams to improve public life.

CE

The Great Wall of China, one of the most iconic civil engineering feats in history, stretches over 13,000 miles (21,000 kilometers) and was built over centuries using stone, brick, tamped earth, wood, and other materials. It showcases early examples of large-scale engineering and the use of local materials — principles still applied in modern civil engineering.

Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism in systems like power, control, and communication.

EE

The electrical grid is one of the most complex machines ever built. It spans thousands of miles, connects power plants to homes and businesses, and operates in real time to balance supply and demand — often with tolerances of less than a second. Engineers must constantly monitor and adjust the flow of electricity to avoid blackouts and ensure stable power.

Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering focuses on designing, analyzing, and manufacturing machines and mechanical systems, powering industries from automotive to aerospace and energy.

ME

The Greek engineer Heron of Alexandria (circa 10–70 AD) designed early mechanical devices like automata (self-operating machines) and even a rudimentary steam engine called the aeolipile — over 1,500 years before the Industrial Revolution! This makes mechanical engineering one of the oldest branches of engineering.

Mining Engineering

Mining Engineering involves the extraction of minerals from the earth, focusing on mine design, safety, sustainability, and resource management.

MN

The oldest known mine in the world is over 40,000 years old. The Ngwenya Mine in Eswatini (Swaziland) is believed to have been used by early humans to extract hematite, a form of iron ore used as red ochre for pigments. This makes mining one of the earliest forms of engineering practiced by humans.
